Fiddes Exterior High Build Wood Oil is a blend of natural oils and resins combined with UV filters to give a transparent satin finish that offers excellent UV protection for all external joinery and woodwork. The quick drying finish is water repellent and weather resistant finish that will not peel or flake.

20 - 24m² per litre per coat. Coverage can vary significantly depending on the age, finish and type of wood. An initial application should be a minimum of 3 coats.
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from any previous finish, a maximum moisture content of 20%. Any fungal, moss, mould or plant growth must be removed before application. A good quality solvent based preservative should always be applied first particularly for woods with low levels of extractives such as oak and soft woods.
The substrate should be sanded with a medium or 120 grade paper and all traces of dust removed, a dust mask should always be warn when sanding and the timber treated with a good quality wood preservative.
As with all wood treatments a small test application on an inconspicuous area should be done before the initial application as the final appearance can be as much down to the timber being treated as the oil itself. Only apply in dry conditions and when it will remain dry for the duration of the drying period. Stir the contents thoroughly before use and periodicaly during the application, apply using a good quality brush along the grain ensuring it is applied evenly and thoroughly. Leave to dry for 4-6 hours in a warm and well ventilated area or preferably over night.
Sand lightly with a 320 grade sand paper or equivalent before applying the second coat and apply as previously again leaving for a minimum of 4 -6 hours in warm well ventilated conditions before applying the third coat in the same manner.
An annual maintenance coat is recommended. The surface should be lightly abraded with a 150 grade sandpaper and cleaned before application of the maintenance coat.

Cleaning of Tools:
Clean using White spirit.
A minimum of 3 coats is recommended and a test should always be carried out before the main application is carried out. Drying times can be significantly extended in cold, damp or humid conditions and good ventialtion is essential. an annual maintenance coat is required.
