Organowood 02 Dirt & Water Repellent

Organowood 02 Dirt & Water Repellent is the second component in the Organowood system, designed to increase the protection of the timber against dirt, water and damp. It uses a water emulsion incorporating organic silicon polymers and natural growth substances but does not include any biocides or toxic heavy metals. It is designed to be used in conjunction with 01 Protection to create a complete protection system for softwoods and European hardwoods together with other specified timber based products.

The organic silicon polymers in the product bind to the fibres in the wood which once dry combine to form an extremely water repellent surface making it impossible for damp, water and water borne dirt to penetrate the timber and prevent the growth of mold and algae. The product is completely free of biocides and heavy metals such as copper, chromium and arsenic. The product is transparent and will not significantly effect the appearance of the wood, there might be some slight lightening to the appearance of the wood but over time it will develop an even silvery grey patina.

Available in 1L, 5L and 10L (please note the 10L will come in 2 x 5L bottles).

Coverage:
1 litre will cover approximately 8-10m² per coat. For vertical surfaces two coats are recommended.

Application:
Apply to timber previously treated with Organowood 01 Protection, the minimum application temperature is 10°C. Do not apply when there is any likelihood of rain, dew or frost and ensure that any glass is protected as the liquid could react with with glass.

• Shake the container well and apply in the wood direction of the wood grain with a brush or roller.
• Allow to dry for 2-4 hours
• For optimal protection apply a second coat as above
• Maintenance coats should be applied as required

Maintenance:
Due to the dense surface structure that is created treated timber should not be painted with conventional paints or stains. On vertical surfaces where two coats have been applied a maintenance coat will be required approximately every 10-15 years, on horizontal decking a maintenance coat will be required every 12-18 months. The interval between maintenance coats can vary significantly depending on the location and the UV exposure levels.

Cleaning Equipment:
After using Organowood equipment should be thoroughly cleaned with water and a washing detergent or alternatively with an appropiate organic solvent such as acetone.
