FAQ

Osmo Maintenance Oil is a fast drying wood finish to help care and maintain surfaces treated with Osmo Polyx oils. Dull and matt flooring, particularly in high wear areas are refreshed by the application of maintenance oil at the right time so avoiding the time consuming and potentialy messy job of sanding back. As with other Osmo oils the Maintenance oil is based natural vegetable waxes so once dry the finish is safe for humans, animals, plants and even children's toys as per EN 71.3 (European standard). For inexperienced or DIY use we recommend using Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner.

Key Product Features:

  • Maintains Protected surfaces
  • Cleans & regenerates at the same time
  • Removes even tough stains such as grease or shoe polish
  • No sanding back required
  • Change surface finish of surfaces already treated with Osmo Polyx oil.

Area of Use:

Osmo Maintenance Oil is ideal for maintaining all internal wooden surfaces treated with Polyx Oil, such as solid wood, planed flooring, parquet, blockstrip, OSB and cork flooring. Typical areas include flooring, stairs and furniture. Osmo Maintenance oil is particularly recommended for high wear areas such as restaurants, museums and even airport departure lounges.

Surface Preparation:

The surface must be clean, dry (maximum moisture content of 18%) and free of dust. The surface should be thoroughly cleaned with dilute intensive cleaner (see intensive cleaner instructions for more information) and then rinsed with clean water (damp mopped only). A trial application should always be done first.

Method of Application:

Apply with an Osmo Double Blade Scraper or microfibre roller, applying thinly and evenly along the grain and rub in to the wood using an Osmo white Pad (available for hand holder or jointed holder for use with Osmo telescopic handle), do not rub in 3098, then remove excess product. For smaller areas it can be applied with a lint free cloth such as Osmo Easy Pads. Allow good ventilation for drying.

Drying Time:

Drying takes approximately 3 - 4 hours (23°C/50% rh). Lower temperatures or higher humidity can increase the drying time.
